TMCnet Business Process Outsourcing Week in Review

By Rachel Ramsey, TMCnet Web Editor

Turning to outsourcing companies can offer a lot of benefits, such as cost savings, flexibility and expertise. A lot of companies have realized these benefits and a lot has been happening in the business process outsourcing community. Here are the top stories from the week!

While many companies are finding cost savings in business process outsourcing – indeed, the growth of the global BPO industry attests to this – many industry experts have taken to discussing the risks and urging companies to examine them before making an outsourcing decision. A new report by from global insurance broker Lockton and global insurance carrier AIG, called, "Claim Trends and Best Practices for Reducing Professional Liability and Data Protection Risks,” highlights some of the most important issues when it comes to business process outsourcing.

In line with the growth of demand for applications that can help people on-the-go to work and perform tasks, SAP (News - Alert) has lately concentrated on applications for mobile users that range from business intelligence (BI) to analytics to cloud-based services – which last month had unveiled its HANA-powered apps in the cloud.  The newest app unveiled this month is the Business Planning and Consolidation 10.0 on the SAP EPM Unwired mobile app which allows users to perform financial planning and data analysis on their mobile devices.

With features like scenario planning, what-if analysis and forecasting, the new Business Planning and Consolidation application joins in with all other SAP-provided BI applications in aiding professionals in their decision-making anytime, anywhere, even when away from their physical office.

Also this week, New Relic, Inc., is now enabling organizations, both small and large, to maximize on enterprise business transaction performance tracking. Achieving this is possible using the recently announced key transaction ‘performance management’ solution. With the integration of this feature into the New Relic Pro, companies will be empowered with advanced and refined visibility into their critical transactions at an affordable price.

Fiserv, a technology provider serving the financial services industry, reportedly upgraded its current Agiliance RiskVision Enterprise Risk, Policy and Compliance Management infrastructure with Agiliance’s Threat and Vulnerability Manager as well as Vendor Risk Manager applications. Agiliance RiskVision solutions are supposed to help Fiserv manage risks including network, server, endpoint and mobile data, devices and applications.

In other news, Druva has surpassed one million endpoints protected with over 1,300 customers across 46 countries, increasing the number of endpoints protected by more than 450 percent year over year. The company’s flagship product, inSync, empowers a mobile workforce with automated backup, file sharing and collaboration, data loss prevention, and rich analytics. Deployed either on the cloud or on-premises, the product is built with both IT needs and end-user experiences in mind.

Stay tuned to the business process outsourcing community each week for the latest industry news, announcements and resources!
