Capgemini Commissions New 300 Seat BPO Facility in Trichy, India

By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor

Officials with Capgemini (News - Alert) said that the company pioneered a hub-and-spoke delivery network model in India when it opened a spoke location in Salem in 2008. Based on the success of that model, Capgemini has now expanded its delivery network with the opening of a new center in Trichy that will serve as another spoke location for its  hubs in Bangalore and Chennai. Company officials said that the new 300 seat BPO facility in Trichy, which is spread across an area of 18,000 sq ft, will increase Capgemini’s BPO strength in India where more than 6500 full time staff are now employed.

According to company officials, over 200 employees have already been recruited, most of whom are fresh graduates. Further, two-thirds of Capgemini’s current employees in Trichy are women.

All operations at the Trichy center, like most of Capgemini’s BPO services in India, will be non-voice-based.

“Capgemini India’s capabilities in BPO significantly contribute to our global BPO business and are instrumental in delivering business value and driving business outcomes for our global clients.” said Hubert Giraud, head of Capgemini BPO strategic business unit, in a statement.

“Strong capabilities established in India based on our deep understanding of finance and accounting domain coupled with unique service offerings in procurement & the supply chain space, provides us a distinct competitive advantage,” Giraud also said, adding that the expansion in India validates the group’s belief in the region in the long term, best in class delivery location for its global clients.BL Narayan, head of BPO Capgemini, India said that the Trichy facility is part of Capgemini India’s ongoing expansion strategy for its BPO services.

“Having strengthened our presence in the key cities of the country, we are keen to leverage the talent pool of tier III cities for servicing our global clients, based on our domain specialization in finance and accounting outsourcing, procurement and supply chain management,” said Narayan.
