TMCnet Business Process Outsourcing Week in Review

By Rachel Ramsey, TMCnet Web Editor

To kick off the week, emerging market countries such as the Philippines have found that the development of smart cities and smart countrysides may be key in order to become a global hub for business process outsourcing (BPO). However, according to members of the business process outsourcing industry, implementing the infrastructure is just one part of this process.

CareerBliss, a major online career community helping people find happiness at every step in their careers, recently published a list of the 20 happiest jobs in America. The list is based on an analysis from more than 100,400 employee-generated reviews between February 2011 and January 2012. A minimum of 50 employee reviews were required to be considered for CareerBliss’ 20 Happiest Jobs in America, and executive-level jobs, like chief executive, were excluded from the study. With an index score of 4.24, software quality assurance engineers seemed to have the maximum job satisfaction, while with an index score of 4.15, the jobs of executive were ranked second.

Also this week, DX.com has announced it is improving services for Australian customers through a new program designed to enhance order processing, tracking and shipping efficiency. The new program, “AU Direct,” is directly at its large Australian customer base and is currently shipping to Victoria, New South Wales, Queensland, Tasmania and South Australia. These shipping destinations will be expanded in the near future, according to company officials.

Though our nation is always thinking of and expressing gratitude for those who serve our country, millions of Americans will especially be remembering our service members and their families this weekend. Veterans Day is on Sunday, when the United States will continue the tradition of taking the time to reflect, remember and honor armed service veterans. This is especially good timing for Alorica, a provider of business process outsourcing solutions that span the entire customer lifecycle, which is about to be inducted into the Military Spouse Employment Partnership (MSEP).

MSEP is a targeted recruitment and employment solution that creates employment connections that provide companies with direct access to military spouses seeking career opportunities and spouses with direct access to employers who are actively recruiting. Alorica already has experience with veterans, as its home agent program, AloriCares, is the first exclusive veterans program in the business process outsourcing industry. By joining MSEP, Alorica will become an integral part of a growing program dedicated to ensuring military spouses are afforded the opportunity to realize their employment aspirations.

Those are some of the top business process outsourcing stories from this week on TMCnet. Check back each week for the latest industry news, trends, announcements and resources.
