iSoftStone Strengthens Cloud Services and Smart City Capabilities by Joining CSCITISA

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

iSoftStone Holdings, a China-based cloud services provider, offers an integrated suite of IT services and solutions including consulting & solutions, IT services and Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) services. The company serves both Greater China and global clients.

iSoftStone Holdings recently joined the China Smart City Industry Technology Innovation Strategic Alliance (CSCITISA).

The membership helps iSoftStone collaborate closely with all alliance members in multiple areas, such as resource sharing, technology transfer and personnel training. The company will also strengthen its capabilities in Smart City planning, development and operation through active participation in various cloud computing and smart-city projects.

China's striding into the era of Smart City has brought tremendous business opportunities and innovative inspiration to IT services providers, according to iSoftStone executive vice president, Steve Kang

The company is planning to invest more in smart city technologies to strengthen their service capabilities. It will work with local cities and service partners to build an operation platform with new technologies, such as cloud computing, Internet of Things (IOT), mobile Internet and big data, says Kang.

In 2011, the company decided to transform toward an innovation-driven non-linear growth model, and invest more in the Smart City area. Currently, its Smart City team comprises over 600 employees.

iSoftStone has emerged as a player in the traditional IT services market in China. In the fourth quarter of 2011, the company announced a major partnership with IBM (News - Alert) and WIOT to co-build a Center of Excellence (CoE) for Cloud Computing and Smart City, which is an important breakthrough for iSoftStone in Smart City area.

Further in March 2012 and June 2012, iSoftStone continued to team up with IBM and other local partners to co-build IBM Cloud Computing Center of Excellence (CCoE) in the city of Liaoyuan and Lanzhou, respectively.

Earlier in June, SoftStone Holdings announced it has signed an agreement on the acquisition of the Canada-based Abovenet (News - Alert) International, a provider of business intelligence and data management service.
